We get so many questions, but among them these are the ones that are asked the most frequently. We decided to put them all together so that everyone's' most common questions can be answered more or less in one page. If you have any questions shop related, check out those specific pages.
Q) Does this game feature grass wear (animal tracks)?
A) Yes it does. However it is much slower than it was in City Folk (Wii). If you are the type that does not run often, you will barely notice any grass wear in your town. Growing flowers also helps to mask the lack of grass. Q) What are the town fruits, and what are the island fruits? A) This game features two categories of fruits: Fruit that can be found natively in your town, and fruit that can be found on your island. Native town fruit consists of: Apples, Oranges, Pears, Cherries and Peaches. Each persons' island will also have a native fruit to it, among the Island fruit, there are: Durians, Lychee, Mangoes, and Lemons. There are also two types of fruit that can grow into trees on your beach, they are: Coconuts and Bananas. Island fruit can each be sold for 250 bells. Native fruit (town fruit) can be sold for 100 bells each. Foreign fruit (a town fruit that is not your native fruit) can be sold for 500 bells each, however Island fruit does not count into this, it will still be 250 bells. Q) What is delicious fruit and how do I get it? A) Delicious fruit is essentially a rare or upgraded version of whatever fruit it is. How it appears is completely random. However, when you start up a new game, somewhere in that town there will be a delicious fruit, so it is important to find it and make a tree of it, to ensure that it becomes a delicious <your town fruit> tree. The fruit will sell for 600 bells. You cannot grow a delicious fruit tree from a foreign delicious fruit, and if you try to, it will just end up becoming a normal tree of whatever that fruit was. Q) What is the Island? How do I get there? And can I play by myself on there? A) The Island is accessible from the dock on your beach. It costs 1000 bells to go, and you get there by riding on Kapp'n's boat. The Island is always summer, so you are able to fish and catch summer-specific bugs and fish. When you arrive there, you pockets will automatically be emptied for you, therefore it is necessary to rent out equipment from the Gyroid near the entrance of the Island. The Island also hosts minigames, ranging from one star (easy) to three stars (difficult) in terms of difficulty. You can play with friends or by yourself. If you perform well in the minigame, you will be rewarded with medals. You can only exchange these medals for goods in the island souvenir shop. |
Q) Can I dive on my own beach?
A) Yes, once you have purchased the Marine suit (diving suit) from the Islands' souvenir shop for 40 medals, you can dive on the Island or off your own beach. Q) What are community projects? A) Community projects are a new feature to the game which allow you, the Mayor, to build projects in and around the town. Some of these projects include: bridges, benches, archways, fountains, etc. But they also include major buildings such as the Police Station and the Cafe. At the start of the game many community projects will be available for you to construct, however to unlock the majority of them you will need to have an animal villager request them of you. How they request them from you happens randomly, usually with you walking by and them coming up to you. Once you initiate a conversation they will ask you to build <something>. Q) Can I build community projects on the beach? A) No you cannot. Q) How many people can play this game? A) You can only have one town per cart, but it is possible to have four players within the town. The first character created will automatically become the mayor and the subsequent characters will just act as normal villagers. Each will be able to choose where their own home is built. The only major difference between the Mayor (player #1) and the other characters (players 2-4) is that the Mayor has the ability to start community projects. Q) As the mayor, can you delete or move community projects? A) You can delete the majority of community projects. However, major buildings such as the Police Station, the Dream Mansion and the Cafe cannot be deleted, so make sure you want them before building them. You cannot move community projects. If you build one and decide that you don't like the placement, the only option is to delete it (unless it is a building like the Police station, etc. mentioned above--in that case you cannot do anything). Q) Why do the flowers sometimes sparkle? A) This is to show that those flowers have already been watered. |
